Happy Halloween! 🎃
Since it’s one of my favourite times of the year, I figured, why not end the month with a list of my top five Halloween slots picks for 2024.
I don’t know if you enjoy playing Halloween slots, spooky slots, or horror slots, but if you do, you’re in good company! Spinning the reels of these types of slots is usually exciting for me, doubly so when it comes to the fall and winter.
To end off the month, I thought I’d keep things nice and simple and provide a few details about the five slots I’ve been playing in October that got me in the Halloween spirit! Who knows, maybe you might even feel like giving them a spin if you’re looking for something a little fun and eerie to enjoy this Halloween.
My Top Halloween Slots Picks for 2024
The following list of Halloween slots are in no particular order. Just remember that the details I list applied to the games I played in Ontario. Certain factors, such as RTP, can vary depending on where you play and your jurisdiction. Additionally, keep in mind that features in a free game demo may not be available in real money mode depending on where you play.
Dreadworks

- Software provider: Print Studios
- Release date: October 2024
- Theme: Evil Dolls, Haunting,
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 4
- Paylines: 26
- Volatility: High
- Max Win: 20,000x
- Features: Mystery Symbols, Win Multipliers, Free Spins
- RTP: 96.08%
- Free Demo: You can play the Dreadworks demo at Print Studios official site.
Why it made my list: Dreadworks wins gold for being downright haunting. It’s probably the scariest online slot I’ve played, due to the incredibly dark atmosphere and jump scare elements (complete with shrieks). It’s also the only online slot I’ve played (up to this point) that required me to adjust my screen so that the images on the reels are barely visible.

As for features, I’d say the one I liked best was the Jack-in-the-box wilds. While it would have been amazing to trigger the Big Jack Bonus, that didn’t happen for me by the time I called it quits.
Ultimately, if you like horror slots, this is a good one, complete with screams, freaky-looking dolls, teddy bears with razor teeth, and other creepy stuff.
Blood Suckers

- Software provider: NetEnt
- Release date: October 2013
- Theme: Vampires
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 3
- Paylines: 25
- Volatility: Low-Medium
- Max Win: 7,500x
- Features: Free Spins, Bonus Game, Multiplier
- RTP: 98%
- Free Demo: You can play the Blood Suckers demo at NetEnt’s official site.
Why it made my list: This NetEnt classic has been on my to-play list for a while. It’s considered by many players to be one of the provider’s classics and continues to be quite popular, even though it doesn’t have the best graphics out there.
For me, the vampire-slaying bonus game (where you can pick any coffin at random for a chance to slay a vampire and score a cash prize) is the best part. Mini games aren’t a common feature of many slots, so I’m always happy when I can play a slot that’s got one.
Ultimately, if you like vampire stuff and/or you’re a big fan of vampire movies, you’ll probably like this game, as it gives a nod to many popular vampires including, Lestat, Dracula, and Nosferatu.
Ghostbusters Triple Slime

- Software provider: IGT
- Release date: April 2017
- Theme: Original Ghostbusters Movies
- Reels: 5
- Rows: Varied row structure
- Paylines: 720 Ways to Win
- Volatility: Medium
- Max Win: 2,919x
- Features: Multiway, Wheel Bonus, Multipliers
- RTP: 96.08%
- Free Demo: You can play the Ghostbuster Trip Slime demo at OLG’s official site.
Why it made my list: There’s a couple reasons why this one was a great choice for me. For starters, it’s themed after Ghostbusters, which holds huge kid nostalgia vibes for me. I used to watch it around Halloween every year with my dad. The fact that the theme song plays when you spin the reels is a nice touch.
Secondly, the layout is interesting with a wacky-looking reel set and 720 Ways to Win. On top of that, it’s got IGT’s MultiWay Xtra mechanic. This means you can get wins for any matching symbols in any positions (the machine pays both ways).
My favourite feature is the Triple Slime Bonus. It’s a fun mini game where you pick ghosts for a chance to score a nice sized multiplier. Ghostbuster’s Triple Slime is a fun slot for any fan of Ghostbusters or any player who’s looking to break away from traditional slots mechanics and features.
Evil Eyes

- Software provider: Hacksaw Gaming
- Release date: September 2024
- Theme: Dark, Eerie, Sinister
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 5
- Paylines: 3,125 Ways to Win
- Volatility: Medium-High
- Max Win: 12,500x
- Features: Evil Eye, Free Spins, Multipliers
- RTP: 96.24%
- Free Demo: You can play the Evil Eyes demo at Hacksaw Gaming’s site.
Why it made my list: Although this isn’t typically the type of slots gameplay I enjoy, something about this one called to me. Visual and sound-wise, it’s eerie and dark, set in a graveyard and ominous forest. Evil Eyes standout feature is “The Evil Eye Symbol”. It’s a unique element where the Evil Eye symbol marks a winning symbol and will look in a direction to spread the win in that direction.
My favourite feature is the Wicked Epic Drop, which can trigger at random in the base game. When it does, the Wicked Night feature occurs for one single spin. This will land a minimum of 3 Evil Eye symbols and a minimum of 4 multipliers, with at least 1 multiplier collected.
If you’re fan of Hacksaw Gaming, this game won’t disappoint. It’s loaded with features, fun mechanics and is one of their better Halloween slots.
Book of Shadows

- Software provider: Nolimit City
- Release date: August 2020
- Theme: Dark, Occult, Horror
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 3/4/5
- Paylines: 10/15/20
- Volatility: High
- Max Win: 30,338x
- Features: Shadow Rows, Free Spins, Expanding Symbols
- RTP: 96.01%
- Free Demo: You can play the Book of Shadows demo at Nolimit City’s official site.
Why it made my list: If you’re a regular follower of Mia’s iGaming Journey, this game might look familiar to you. Good eye! I first played this one a year ago and it ended up being my second favourite game pick for October 2023 after Immortal Romance Video Bingo. This time around it’s probably my favourite of all the Halloween slots I played.
I really like that Book of Shadows has “Shadow Rows”, which lets me increase or decrease the number of reels in play. You can choose a 5×3 (10 paylines), 5×4 (15 paylines), or 5×5 (20 paylines) layout – naturally the more rows and paylines, the more a spin costs. I also like this slot’s cartoonish graphics and the audio – it’s cutesy and sinister at the same time.
While I like the Shadow Rows, this game also has one of my favourite free spins features. That’s because, before the round starts, one symbol is randomly selected as the Expanding symbol. If it lands, it will fill the entire reel set. This makes the bonus round extra exciting as there is a chance to hit some potentially big wins, especially if you fill the reels with the Expanding symbol. Luck was on my side during one of my playing sessions, and I won $38 in a free spins round with my $0.80 bet.

Book of Shadows is just an all-around fun horror slot (that’s not too scary) and it’s honestly great to play any time of the year.
Mia’s Final Halloween Slots Thoughts
I truly enjoyed playing each of these games and liked the different experiences of each one. Next, I’m looking forward to playing Christmas-themed slots and am wondering if there will be any new releases I’ll like.
What about you? What Halloween slots are your favourite to play this year and why? Got any recommendations for me? I’d love to hear them as well as your thoughts on my top picks.
Until next time, good luck and have fun.
