It’s all about hearts, roses, chocolates, kisses, and romance…
…well, at least that’s the focus of the online Valentine’s slots I’ll be talking about this year.
For me personally, Valentine’s Day is less about the new relationship stereotypes and more about eating takeout from a local restaurant and enjoying it with my husband while we watch a horror film. π π€·βοΈ At least, that’s what we plan to do this year, since last year was a bust since Justin was away on a business trip.
That said, when it comes to Valentine’s Day slots, I’m all about the stereotypes. ππΉπ«πππ° In fact, the more the marrier!
In 2024, I played a bunch of Valentine-themed online slots, with my favourite of them being Play’n GO’s Moon Princess Power of Love. Other slots I played in honour of the love holiday last year included Immortal Romance, Love Joker, 15 Crystal Roses a Tale of Love, Lucky Valentine, Stacked Valentine Hearts, and Love Is In the Fair.
While I totally intend to replay the ones I enjoyed last year, for this post, I wanted to share my thoughts/opinions on five Valentine’s slots (okay, more like Valentine-ish themed slots) I’ve never played before. They are:

Why Diamond Hearts made my Valentine’s Day slots list:
The Diamond Hearts slot is a classic 3-reel style slot with 9 paylines from Everi. I chose this game to try something different (I’m usually a traditional 5Γ3 or Cluster Pays kind of slot player). Also, this is the first Everi game I’ve played.
Like most 3-reel classics I’ve seen, graphically speaking, Diamond Hearts isn’t designed to be mind blowing. Instead, what grabbed my attention (aside from the heart theme) is the game’s fixed multiplier symbols.
For instance, one Diamond Hearts symbol (also a Wild symbol) in a winning Sevens or Bar combo pays out 2x paytable value, while two Diamond Hearts symbols in a winning Sevens or Bar’s combo pays out 4x the paytable value. Landing 3 Diamond Hearts symbols on 1 payline awards top reward of 10,000 credits.
I’ll be honest, though this was a simple and cute game, I didn’t play as many rounds of it as I did the other Valentine’s slots in my list. The reason is the minimum bet $2.25 ($0.25 per each of the 9 paylines and 1x multiplier) was much higher than my preference. I’m more of a $0.10 β $0.50 type of slot player, on average. The minimum bet for this game would have eaten through my modest bankroll pretty quickly, and I had other slots I wanted to play.
Starlight Kiss

Why Starlight Kiss made my Valentine’s Day slot list:

This romance slot, originally released by Microgaming in 2013, is a generic 5Γ3 slot in terms of design, graphics, and audio (okay, I’ll be real, the audio quality for this game is actually quite terrible). The plot? An open-bloused male attempts to woo a blonde belle with roses and sweets.
The janky sound aside, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this Valentines slot. Beyond having my favourite medium slot volatility, after 3 spins of the reels, luck struck, and I landed 3 Scatters, triggering the games free spins feature. This awarded me 14 spins and all wins for the round are multiplied by 2x. During the free spins round I managed to retrigger the free spins (got another 14!). Once they all played through, my final win was $13.10. Not bad for only betting a total of $0.90 prior to triggering it.
Unfortunately, I didn’t trigger the Romance Bonus when I played, where you can win up to 10x bonus multiplier. Apparently, you increase your bonus win by filling up the romance meter by choosing 3 out of 10 objects on the screen. Hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy this the next time I play, as I fully intend to give this game a spin again (on mute π). It’s my kind of cheese.
Book of Eternal Romance

Why Book of Eternal Romance made my Valentine’s Day slot list:
Book of Eternal Romance is yet another “book of” slot game. In case you’re unfamiliar with “book of” slots, the main features included in “book of” games are usually a book-themed symbol (often acts as a Wild or Scatter) and a free spins round. As you might have guessed, Book of Eternal Romance has both as well as other features. This, combined with the romance factor, intrigued me enough to give it a spin.
As was the case with Everi Games, I believe this game marks my first Wizard Game slot experience. Overall, it was a decent enough experience visually and sound wise. Moreover, this romance slot – following the love story of Marc Antony and Cleopatra and the love story of Bastet and Anubis β has plenty of features like free spins, expanding symbols, multipliers, and a collect feature.
Except for the Eternal Romance Feature (which was a total bust for me), I didn’t trigger anything else. After 40 odd spins with nothing but a few wins of a couple cents each to show for, I called it quits.
The bottom line is that Book of Eternal Romance leans toward the high volatility side and requires patience and commitment. If you’re more of a quick thrill seeker – as I tend to be with slots – this game is likely to annoy you. While I certainly don’t regret playing it, I’m not typically an Egyptian-themed slot fan and it probably won’t be at the top of my re-play list.

Why Chocolates made my Valentine’s Day slot list:
So, why did I choose this game? The name pretty much says it all – chocolates!
Chocolates is from Big Time Gaming (BTG). It has a straightforward 4Γ4 layout tucked into a wooden cuckoo clock, a sweets theme, and a German Black Forest backdrop (Um, looking at it now, I admit that the landscape and spring colours does seem more Easter-themed than Valentine’s themed – oh wellπ€π ).
Chocolates is bursting with cool features like up to 2,401 win ways in the base game that jumps up to 65,536 win ways in the free spins feature. There are also ExtraWays, which provides extra ways to win from special box symbols, and sticky boxes that can help to create massive wins during the free spins feature. There are also unlimited free spins retriggers.
I, however, didn’t experience any of these fun features. Like Book of Eternal Romance, this game is high volatility through and through, which means you need to stick out lots and lots of spins before you see any chance of reward. That, coupled with the fact that this game probably has one of the most irritating soundtracks I’ve heard, meant that playing it didn’t make my heart go pitter patter. Chocolates was my least favourite of the Valentine’s slot bunch (maybe I should try it again at Easter π).

Why the Fire and Roses Joker slot made my Valentine’s Day slot list:
Developed by Triple Edge Studios and provided by Games Global, Fire and Roses Joker is a game I’ve had my eye on for some time. It is the roses themed slot in my Valentine’s slot list. It’s also my favourite of all the game’s I’ve played.
While it’s nothing like Immortal Romance II in terms of it’s theme and layout, the features of Fire and Roses Joker reminds me of Stormcraft Stuido’s sequel to Microgaming’s groundbreakingly popular online slot. Specifically, its Jackpot Wheel (which triggers at random and awards 1 of 4 jackpots), and it’s 720 ways to win (although Immortal Romance II only has 243 ways).
The Fire and Roses Joker online slot is visually stunning and the soundtrack – while repetitive – easily blends into the game’s background and enhances the overall atmosphere. Fire and Roses Joker is engaging, with plenty going on, whether it’s landing gold coins that increase one of the jackpots, the Joker Wild symbol expanding on a reel, landing a win, or triggering the J-O-K-E-R free spins (which includes multipliers!).
Though I didn’t land one of the jackpots during my playing session, I did hit the free spins feature 3 times, with the first time being my most lucrative, resulting in a free spins retrigger and a win of $18.10 (pretty good considering my $0.20 min bet).

Ultimately, I truly enjoyed playing each of the slots I picked for Valentine’s Day, even the ones that weren’t my favourites.
It was great not to only try different types of slots with different features but also play slots from different providers. In particular, it was fun to play online slots from providers I’m not familiar with, specifically Everi Games and Wizard Games.
