Where I play in Ontario, I have access to over 300 Pragmatic games.
Do you enjoy playing Pragmatic Play slots? I do. They’re one of my favourite online casino software providers due to the vast number of their games that I can play in Ontario.
Never heard of Pragmatic Play? The gist is they’re a Gibraltar-based supplier of iGaming content and have been in the industry since 2015. Over the years, they’ve built up a huge portfolio of games, including many award-winning online slots, live casino games, bingo games, and virtual sports.
Where I typically play in Ontario (PlayOJO), I have access to hundreds of their slots as well as their live games, including live blackjack, live roulette, and live game shows. Of their live casino offering, the live game shows are my favourite, with some of them themed after popular Pragmatic Play slots, like Sweet Bonanza.
For this post, however, my focus will be on what I think are the (current) best Pragmatic Play online slots. Who knows, maybe in the future I’ll do a top 5 games post on the Pragmatic live games I like best. For now, though, it’s all about the slots!
My Top 5 Pragmatic Play Slots Picks
The 5 Pragmatic slots I’ve listed below are the best Pragmatic Play slots in my opinion. That said, they are not listed in any particular order. I’ve also included a link to each game’s official page on Pragmatic’s site where you can learn more about them and play a free demo.
Madame Destiny Megaways
Quick Game Facts
- Theme: Mystical, Fortune Teller
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 2-7
- Paylines: – 200,704 Megaways
- Volatility: – High
- Features: – Tumble reels, Multipliers, Free Spins
- RTP: 96.5%
- Demo Madame Destiny Megaways
Why it made my list – I like the theme, the Tumble feature, and the Free Spins bonus round. Tumbling reels are awesome because they give you more than one shot at landing wins with a single bet. As for the Free Spins, in this game what you’re awarded can be different every time. There’s a wheel that spins before the round that will reveal how many spins you get and the multiplier associated with the round. You also have the option to Buy Free Spins with this game, but it costs 100x your current total bet. Personally, I avoid this feature now, because as I wrote in my post about the Buy Free Spins feature, mostly it’s just a bust.
Big Bas Splash
Quick Game Facts
- Theme: Fishing
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 3
- Paylines: 10
- Volatility: High
- Features: Money symbols, Free Spins, Win Multiplier
- RTP: 96.71%
- Demo Big Bass Splash
Why it made my list – Some players may be big fans of Big Bass Bonanza – the game that started this entire popular Pragmatic Play slots series – but Big Bass Splash is my favourite of the bunch. I love that they combined the fishing theme with a monster truck-riding cowboy, dynamite and bazookas! Something about that combination just tickles me. 🐟 🤠🧨 😂 The coolest bit about this game is the multi-level Free Spins feature. Before this bonus round starts, you can lasso anywhere from 0 to 5 modifiers (more money fish, more wild fisherman symbols, more dynamites, hooks and bazookas, start from level 2, or get 2 extra spins). Plus, the multiplier for money symbol collection increases every level, all the way up to 10x if you reach the 4th and final free spins level. There’s just always something going on with this slot and lots of winning opportunities to boot.
Sweet Bonanza
Quick Game Facts
- Theme: Candy, Desserts, Sweets
- Reels: 6
- Rows: 5
- Paylines: Scatter Pays
- Volatility: Medium-High
- Features: Tumble Feature, Free Spins, Win Multiplier
- RTP: 96.49%-96.60%
- Demo Sweet Bonanza
Why it made my list – This game was the first Pragmatic Play slot I played, and it’s remained a favourite of mine ever since. A lover of desserts, this game’s theme is right up my alley. I like the graphics and colours. The soundtrack is also cute, but its super-repetitive and at times I can admit I do mute it. While the Tumble Feature is always a winner with me (as I mentioned above in Madame Destiny Megaways), the best part of Sweet Bonanza is the Free Spins round and the up to 21,175x max win potential. The two go hand in hand because it’s through the Free Spins that you get a shot at this max win. During the Free Spins, a special rainbow-coloured Multiplier symbol comes into play. This symbol rewards a random win multiplier anywhere from 2x – 100x! If it lands during a spin, it will stay there until the end of tumbling. You can get more than one multiplier in a single spin and all their values will be added together and applied as the multiplier to your total win after all tumbles have completed. Pretty “sweet”, eh? 🍭🙃
Wolf Gold
Quick Game Facts
- Theme: Wolves, Nature, Wildlife
- Reels: 5
- Rows: 3
- Paylines: 25
- Volatility: Medium
- Features: Stacked Wilds, Free Spins, Money Respin, Blazing Reels, 3 Fixed Jackpots
- RTP: 96%
- Demo Wolf Gold
Why it made my list – For starters, Wolf Gold is a medium volatility game, which is a preferred slot volatility of mine. Beyond that, this is an old school-style slot in terms of layout and graphics, which is part of its charm. The soundtrack and sound effects are also highly complementary to its theme, with a wolf occasionally howling in the background. The game’s atmosphere aside, its stand-out features include its Free Spins round where reels 2, 3 and 4 spin together as a giant reel and free spins can be retriggered with no limits. There’s also a Money symbol (full moon) which is pretty cool. These symbols have varying values and if you land 6 or more in a single spin, you’ll trigger the Money Respin feature. You get 3 respins to start. Each time a Money symbol hits it stays put and resets the respins to 3. This continues until no more Money symbols land, or you fill all 15 positions with Money symbols. If it’s the first outcome, the value of all present Money symbols will be added up to become your total win. If it’s the second outcome, you win the game’s Mega Jackpot (the biggest one).
Starlight Princess
Quick Game Facts
- Theme: Anime/Manga, Princess, Fantasy
- Reels: 6
- Rows: 5
- Paylines: Scatter Pays
- Volatility: High
- Features:
- RTP: 96.50%
- Demo Starlight Princess
Why it made my list – If you know me, you know I like my princess-anime/manga-themed online slots. 😹 A self-professed Sailor Moon fan, I can’t resist games with these types of themes (and this one even gives off a Slayers vibe in its soundtrack, too!). My obvious love of the theme aside, this game has my favourite Tumble feature and Multiplier symbols (colourful hearts with wings and crowns) that can hit randomly during any spin (base game & free spins) or tumble. The multiplier values are random and give you anywhere from 2x up to 500x. Like in Sweet Bonanza, more than one can land in a single spin and all their values will be combined and applied to the total win. All that said, what I like the most about this slot’s gameplay is that symbols pay anywhere on the screen just like NetEnt’s Starburst slot.
Honourable Mentions
Here’s a list of five other popular Pragmatic Play slots I enjoy playing to round my list out to a solid top 10 Pragmatic Play slots list. As I’ve done with the games above, I’ve directly linked each game to its official page on Pragmatic’s site so you can learn more about them and even play the demo free if you’re interested in giving them a spin for yourself.
Why I Like Playing Pragmatic Slots
Here are the top three reasons why I like to play Pragmatic slots.
- Good variety of themes – Due to this provider having so many slots, they’ve pretty much covered it all. There are themes ranging from fantasy, magic, and sci-fi to mythology, food, and animals.
- Game paytables are straightforward – The paytable includes all the details you need to know about the game. The details are laid out clearly and orderly. This includes info about the symbols, the paylines, how to play, volatility level (and what that means), as well as the RTP that applies to the specific game you’re playing*.
- I can demo games free – I love that I can demo all their games free. I can do this for all the games offered where I play by selecting PlayOJO’s “Try Free” option. It’s also possible to demo Pragmatic’s slots via their official site. Best of all, I don’t need to sign up or login to access them. I can simply search for the game I want to play, and a demo is usually available.
*Note: In my experience I’ve found that not all providers list volatility and RTP info in their paytables. You can look this information up online and find it on the provider’s website or in a slot review. However, while the volatility information will apply to your game, the RTPs you find on a provider’s site or in a review may not be the same. The reason is that many providers have alternate RTPs depending on the jurisdiction where you play. If you can’t find the RTP info you want via the paytable/info of the game you intend to play for real money, I’d contact the casino’s support.
What I don’t like about Pragmatic Play slots
There isn’t too much I don’t like about Pragmatic Play slots. But if I had to pick one area where I feel this provider could improve it would be originality. Many of their games, particularly those that feature the Megaways mechanic, are cookie cutters of one another in terms of overall layout and features (namely, Megaways, cascading/tumble reels, free spins, high volatility). That’s why I didn’t list more than one of their Megaways games in my top 5 Pragmatic Play slots list.
Additionally, you should know that Pragmatic offers very few branded/licensed games. In fact, I read that the very first branded slot it offered was Peaky Blinders (based on the popular Netflix TV series), which launched back in 2020. Although playing licensed slots typically doesn’t matter much to me, in case that’s a deal break for you, I thought this was worth pointing out.
Where to play Pragmatic Play slots
The good news is if you play at an Ontario online casino, chances are you’ll have access to Pragmatic’s games. Their slots and live casino games are available in many countries and jurisdictions due to the number of licenses they hold and their good reputation.
If you want to know the best place where to play Pragmatic Play slots, I’d recommend choosing an online casino you trust, that has an iGaming Ontario license, has reliable customer support, and offers you promotions and payment methods you like.
What’s your favourite Pragmatic Play slots?
Do you like Pragmatic Play slots? Which ones do you think are the best Pragmatic Play slots? What do you or don’t you like about their games? Give me the scoop! 😂
Until next time, good luck and have fun.
